The Woodward steering wheel quick release features a state-of-the-art spline with a two-inch engaged length. This low profile “square” spline provides highly positive transmission of torque without the spreading effect of the common involute spline, and is the key to the hub’s compact design and extremely light weight.
Designed specifically to resist unintentional removal, it cannot eject itself accidentally even though only a minimal effort is required to release it.

All aluminum parts are red anodized, and all steel parts are gold zinc plated. The weld-on type spline adapters have a one-inch extension to permit welding without damaging the plating on the splines. The hub is drilled and tapped with three copies of the standard US bolt pattern.

Besides removing weight, the extra holes allow precise alignment of the steering wheel’s centered position with respect to the 20 splines of the hub. All units are supplied with lightweight button head Torx screws, with washers for mounting steering wheels of various thicknesses.
All Woodward quick releases meet SFI specification 42.1.

Our newest development is the Jumbo Quick Release, designed for an easier reach behind a steering wheel pad, especially by safety workers from outside the car. The 4 inch (102mm) cupped pull ring with its 72 lightening holes provides an extremely positive grip for gloved fingers.
